And a cap of the original ‘Austrian’ type concerned. Rifle regiment caps are two a penny by comparison, these are exceeedingly rare. This one is from the Prince of Wales’s Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment).

What a spectacular cap! I am drooling...I have a fondness for these FSC caps with bosses and stupidly passed on a Northumberland Fusiliers example I had some years ago.

I'm afraid that I've seen one of the boss badges Toby has shown, a couple of times lately, the first time, one of our members had bought one for £5, and the second time it looks as if someone had paid £65 for another one from a dealers website that I visit.

Sadly, as our member discovered it's not actually a boss badge, it's the bottom part of one of the badges attached, I wonder what the chances are of finding a top piece to go with them.

I've found an example of the complete set, apparently there's a bottom piece as well, it's described as

Victorian 7th (Royal Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot, Officers Forage Cap Badge.
