Default WWI brass wound stripe

Hi all,

Not sure this is the correct place for this but.....

In a recent conversation with a fellow collector he mentioned his small collection of metal Wound Stripes.

This caused me to dig out the one I had which had been long hidden away. It has PROV PAT stamped on the rear. It is 2" long and so should be from WWI.

Can any Member shed any light on the significance of this marking?

Regards,

Graham
