Default Victorian Badges

As a newbie I am looking for opinions. One is a Bombay Pioneers and is what I believe a binocular case badge. The other 4...one is WW1 and the other 3 Victorian. I have been offered the lot for £200....is the price ok and are they original period badges?

Again thanks in advance 👍

Mike

Hello,

Dont buy them.

The Hampshire Carabiniers is fake. The 3rd Carabiniers is probably fake but a real one is only a tenner.

The Middlesex VTC is OK but very common.

The Indian badge is nice and genuine.

regards

That Indian badge is nice, but certainly not for 200 Quid!

It all hinges on what the Bombay Pioneers is worth.

One sold at Bosley’s auction in Nov 2017. Someone with an old catalogue should be able to tell you the hammer price.

However, bear in mind Bosley’s often achieve a premium above market value and dealer prices.

Dealers price Middx VTCs at c.£65 but in truth they can be had for significantly less. Indeed a major dealer with one at that price recently had a 40% off sale and it still didn’t sell it.

I agree with Simon re the other two badges. For me scrap.

So, unless the Indian badge is worth £170+ I’d say it’s some way off being a good deal.

Thanks cavalryman.

After fees and postage that’s about £85.

This therefore appears a very, very bad deal you’ve been offered.

I would caveat caution on the VTC about a year ago there was glut on them on the market - all bronzed with lugs or the flat lugs. This depressed the price as it is likely that this was a batch of high quality repros.
