Default Unknown uniform. Can anyone tell from cap badge?

Can anyone tell me what regiment this uniform might be from. I have been told it's Canadian and someone suggested this forum as you might be able to tell from the cap badge?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

Is there a chance of a close up of the soldier? The collars appear to be maple leaf shape, which would indicate he is Canadian.

Here's what I was able to do: clearly maple leaf collar badges but not a maple leaf based cap badge, so probably not infantry. And, allowing for what old b&w photos do to colours, I am guessing that the divisional patch on his arm is the dark blue of the 2nd Canadian Division.

Hi Mark, as Peter says, it looks like a 2nd Division patch, the collar badges are correct for early Canadian WW1, the badge however does not appear to be one from that Division, as a guess it looks like 8th Canadian Expeditionary Force (Winnipeg Rifles to me) but the patch would be wrong for that. Lovely photo, do you have any other details - Regards Mark

Thanks for all the replies. Firstly I don't think I'll be able to get a better scan than that, but I'll have a go, my mother has the original I think and I can't remember what resolution it was originally scanned in.

It is probably one of my ancestors, either a Parsons or a Pink, I have not yet found anyone who emigrated to Canada on that side though, so more investigation required.

Thanks to everyone again.

Mark.

This might be a repeat of the thanks I've already posted, not sure where that went. But thank you everybody for the replies so far. I might be able to get a better picture, I'm not sure what resolution it was scanned at, I think the photo is at my Mum's.

I think one of the people in the photo will be a Parsons or Pink, and it looks like it could possibly be marriage photo, the ring on her hand is prominently displayed. I'm yet to find anyone on that side of the family who travelled to Canada so more research required.

Thanks again for all the replies so far.

Mark.
