Default SAS Regiment cloth title

Can anyone shed light on this title which appears from its construction to be an old item?

Default SAS Regiment title

Is that dark blue on red, ie Engineers colours? If so, never seen anything like it. The addition of "REGIMENT" behind the "S.A.S." is also unusual.

Ian,

Could be dark blue or possibly black, very hard to tell. As you say almost RE colours. My thoughts on the use of Regiment are much the same as yours.

Maybe an early or unofficial Australian SAS Regt badge.

Doesn't look like an Aussie made title. Certainly looks like a Brit made title to me. The colours are a mystery.

Could it be a Rhodesian SAS shoulder title?

Malayan Scouts ?

They used "S.A.S Regiment" title but with Malayan Scouts underneath but could this have been a locally made item ?

Local made items were around.

Any ideas on how much that particular title at Bosleys went for?
Thank you

A long shot but was it at some point considered to rename the Small Arms School Corps into a regiment?
