Royal Irish Rifles
Gents,
This thread has been covered before. I have looked at the thread by GTB back in 2013 and I believe one of these examples is struck from the same die as his badge. The second example seems to have a brass looking rear...and white metal front. I am unhappy with both but would welcome all opinions and comments. Jim |

I don't like the first badge but the second one looks OK but it has been badly stored at some time. Rather than brass on the back I believe it is residue left from rusty water.

Right one-extraordinary booby detail.

Perhaps known as The big boobed from Ballymena badge.

The first badge is non voided at the pennant tails, and the face is just too ugly to be an angel....or am I just being picky? It could be a layer of light rusty water marks on the rear of the second badge...but it has had a light cleaning with soapy water which made no difference.....Jim

Gents, following on from the above, I checked out my example and am now unsure about it. It has a similar look to the second image above, but is not ident I believe. It has a few non voids too and a makers mark F N Bham.
Any observations welcomed. Thanks chaps. |

A classic example of the badge by that maker who was well known for missing those voids. Absolutely genuine. I’m after one of these myself so if you ever move it on please let me know.

Think I may have found a good one.....I am more excited about this version than the two I posted earlier. Can anyone back me up on this being a genuine example or am I going to get shot down in flames !
