A/A para Regt kings crown.

Excellent thanks. I have one just like this but thought it was a copy. I cant recall where I got it from, but always assumed it wasnt right. If your sure that your one is 'good' then I clearly had a result!

Thanks.

Bess

Here's one of my old composite shots comparing a good one with a bad one.

One showing the defect. It also shows clearly the raised edge aound the feathers and their rounded rather than sharp corners, always good signs in my opinion.

An ebay special to avoid at all costs. No defect and photographs well. The give away on this one is the dog and basket and the surround to the canister at the bottom of the shroud lines.

Handle with great care! It is so flimsy that if you were to blow on it it would bend. It probably wouldn't fool even the least experienced in the hand.

Beautiful, and I don't think I've ever said that about a staybrite before. Do you know a source for these?

Jim & 54bty, thank you for the images. I'm not at home at the moment but will get my AA badge out and scrutinise with care. Thanks for the advice, gents all. The back of my badge is certainly the same as the image posted by 54bty but closer inspection will be the proof in the pudding.

Thanks again guys.

The Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant, but your a bit late they have been replaced by one with a St. Edward's Crown.

Not many of my badges have been purchased from surplus or badge dealers.

Guys what do we think of this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/British-cap-ba...yphotohosting? ?

Had a quick look through that sellers other badges and... well I wouldn't buy any of the ones I saw.

This badge has the curvy feathers and no apparent die flaw on the wings. However I think the bottom most set of curvy feathers looks rather too fat, am I being paranoid here or does this seller have (as unlikely as it may seem) one good badge in with the dross? The chute strings seem a little fat also.

Luke

*On closer inspection he may literally have one or two badges which might be OK.

Sorry Luke, not a chance. Did you not notice that monstrosity of a lion? Modern fake. His blurb explains it all "nice modern badge..." except the nice bit!

Cheers tyneside, I guessed it was bad but couldn't put my finger on it... the rotters.

Luke

Apart from what's mentioned previously, I don't like the sharp edge in the top of the wings, and the weird looking difference in both halves of the rigging lines. Barge pole teritory, to be sure.

Rgds,
