I don't think that I have ever seen a photo of an officer in SD wearing the badge on an SD cap, you often see a few photographs of rank and file wearing the badge on a khaki field service cap.
You encounter the odd image of officers in SD with silver collars, although, they usually wore bronze, but, their cap badge is always silver or plate and on a beret.
