Hi Mark
I think this is a Chief Air fitter (Airframes) though the Carmen, May & Tanner book says it should have slightly swept wings. Possibly a variation since CMT was published.
Cheers,
Alex

Default RN badge

There is part of a manufactures label on the back from Stephen Simpson and after a google search, found that the factory used to manufacture gold thread items including military badges. Factory was based in Preston and closed in the 1990's.

Crown above and 'A' below, means it could be any of the following:

CPO Aircraft Mechanic, Airframes (1949-51)
Chief Airman Fitter, Airframes (1951-58)
Chief Air Fitter, Airframes (1948-49)
Aircraft Mechanic 1st Class, Airframes (1949-56)
PO Airman Fitter, Airframes (1956-58)
PO Air Fitter, Airframes (1958- )

Of course, Queen's crown would rule out some of the above.
