Training Reserve Battalions
I have found an interesting grave to Private W.G.Rowe 37th Training Reserve Battalion in Kentisbeare Churchyard, Devon.
I wonder if he was buried here because it was his home village or if the 37th Training Reserve Battalion was stationed in this area? Rob |

That was most likely where his family lived. The Long.Long.Trail WW1 site has the 37th Bn in Wool Dorset from 1916.

Pte. William George Rowe, born 1899 in Bridgwater, Somerset, died 3rd July 1917, aged 18. His family had probably moved to Kentisbeare at some time.

I have just bought this nice postcard, so have I got this correct?
10th Brigade Training Reserve 43rd 10th (Reserve) Bn, the King’s Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) (White) 44th 11th (Reserve) Bn, the Devonshire Regiment (Red) 45th 9th (Reserve) Bn, the Somerset Light Infantry (Yellow) 46th 13th (Reserve) Bn, the Worcestershire Regiment (Green) 47th 10th (Reserve) Bn, the East Lancashire Regiment (Brown) The number "10" varies in colour in order of seniority, in this case it doesn't look white? |

And I have found some "TR" brass shoulder titles to go with my Cap Badge Button.

E Company 98th Training Reserve Battalion Aldershot
I picked this nice picture up at a car boot sale this morning, I don't think there is a Devonshire Regiment connection so I will probably move it on again, but its very interesting to see the assortment of cap badges worn by the Officers and NCOs who I presume are the training staff, one of whom appears to wearing a musicians badge above a crossed swords PT badge?

I note some of those men are wearing a 23 in dark colouring on their right upper sleeve.

2 Nice Training Reserve Battalion sweetheart badges, I rather like the red enamel representing the red felt backing used on the cap badge buttons.

This is a wonderfully informative thread on units and badges of which I previously knew nothing. Congratulations and thanks to all who contributed!

Another new picture, not quite sure how the "TR No.12" fits in with the Devonshire Regiment badges worn?
