Canadian Ordnance
I have collar badges for the Canadian Ordnance Corps which have the word ORDNANCE on a scroll below the shield, which I can identify. I now have one that does not have the ORDNANCE title. Is it because, like the British Ordnance Corps there was a Canadian Ordnance DEPARTMENT for officers?

Hello Conductor, the answer to your question may be that you have a collar. They did not have the additional ORDNANCE scroll and were the same size as the cap badge sans scroll.

Thanks for the reply. I have a collar badge, identified by the cannons facing right, which has the ORDNANCE title, and cap badges with cannons facing left with the scroll. The cap badge's beavers are submissive where as the collar badge has an aggressive beaver. The badge I have without the scroll has an aggressive beaver

Yes, there were several different variations.
To answer your original question, there is no record of an Ordnance Department for officers.

Ordnance Cap
Gentlemen:
Interesting points about the Ordnance badges. I have an Ordnance cap badge done in white metal. I always wondered if it might have been an Officer cap badge or not. I cannot post a picture of it right now. This badge came out of the Ted Skinner collection several years ago. Don |
