Default Essex Regiment - Formation Sign Combination

Opinions please on this WW2 Essex Regiment Formation Sign Combination:

ESSEX printed shoulder title

49th Infantry Division

Infantry Arm of Service Strip

'Pompadour' Arm of Service Strip (2nd Bn Essex Regiment)

56th Infantry Brigade

Probably a 'too good to be true' made up fake!

It looks good to me as well. These can be very tough to decern, but I am seeing no red flags. I very nice piece.

Thanks Normandie18 and CB for your positive opinions. I have several hundred WW2 Formation Signs in my Album collected over the last 50 years but this is the first and only Combination.

You can also give it the black light test after you get it and return it if it glows.

Nice piece. I'm wondering why there are two AOS strips as 56th Infantry Brigade would have been the senior brigade in 49th Division, meaning that only one AOS strip would've been worn.

However, after reading so many posts on here about how Regiments and Corps adjusted or ignored official uniform regulations to suit their own idea of what was correct, I can understand how the Essex Regiment made the addition without any formal recognition.

Default Printed title

The Essex printed title has been IMO cut to fit on this Formation Sign Combination, this has answered a question for me as to why I have a Buffs printed title which to my mind has been cut down to fit.

Third down on the right as opposed to fourth on the left.

I already own the ESSEX combination and it came among a large mixed lot of cloth items which I am sorting through but most of which seem genuine. I will post some items later for opinions.
