Andy P, depending on the condition, I would say upto £35. The WW2 ones go for about £20-25.
I am after the sew on type. Andy H, I have both types but can't get a picture, side by side, until tomorrow, sorry, mate. Phil

Andy,
My last couple of purchases were between the £25/£35 range, however, I have seen many a decent example without back-plate go for well in excess if £30. Mind you, this was some time ago and I have not looked at prices recently. Peter. |

Thanks Phil
I must get one of these mine clearance badges. So, do all the copies have the diagonal line and what else should I look for on a fake? |

No problem
Wrongly positioned lugs, very bright (almost anodised finish), poor rear definition, misshapen crown, diagonal and/or vertical fault line, artificial (rusty) ageing. They are the issues I can remember for fakes.

Thanks Phil,
I will see if I can find one Going on what I have learnt, can I confidently say that Tim's badge in post 6 is OK (as no one else has)? Jack, your friend has had a very interesting life. I bet he has had some adventures!! Andy |

Here is the last example I purchased, for which I paid £30.
A tad neglected when it came to me, and (in my opinion) in need of a little TLC: MCS 007.jpgMCS 006.jpg MCS 019.jpgMCS 022.jpg Regards to all, Peter. |

Mine Clearance Badge
Andy
Yes he has and he is still going strong. He has told me a lot of interesting stories of his days in the RN and then the Palestine Police Jack |

Hi Andy,
If you compare them to the example Peter has shown above you can easily spot the difference. Thats the first thing what I look for when I am viewing examples of this MC badge. & the die crack line is vsible too, but I thought in previous discussions on this badge (perhaps a couple yrs ago) that it was established that the orriginal die had developed a crack so that later issues of the badge had the positive image of that die crack visible. I could be wrong, so perhaps one of our mates will verify or debunk this..... RCN Bryan |
