1LRV
I have little or no doubt that a 1st Lanarkshire Rifle Vols pouch badge that I have had since the 70s is not an authentic piece, yet I have never had an expert's word on it. I recall at the time a lot of scarce insignia was being faked.
It appears to be cast from a silver-bronze type of alloy and has 2 threaded studs at rear. Unfortunately, scan of rear is out of focus. As always, comments welcome. GTB |

GTB,
It is a definate fake IMHO. Give away is the exceptionally poor quality of manufacture, un-natural aging and wrong coloured metal. regards

Thanks, Simon, I thought as much.
I read that there were examples in black metal and die-struck, but perhaps there could have been strikes in different metals, etc and unbeknownst to me - although I reiterate that I was virtually without doubt it is a dud item. Would you have a time-frame for this badge? GTB |
