Default Unknown Colonial ?

A bit lacking in insignia, the buttons appear to be British General service pattern, so what unit did this gentleman belong to?

That was going to be my answer too - just advised someone over here who was interested in recreating such a uniform, so the info. is fairly fresh in my aging brain. The lambswool headdress/hat is not actually circular but the way this trooper is wearing it means that the bag, meant to hang on the wearers right side, is not clearly visible. Lovely photo.
