No opinions? My guess is the W&C is questionable but I think the Suffolk is ok.
Any ideas?
Thanks. Cheers,
Alex

My Suffolks has brazing holes so would not really be happy with that one. Denis

The Suffolks was worn from 1908ish to 1916 so there may be ore than one maker. I would be happy with it.

I like the W&C yeo especially as the wreath tips do not meet the crown nor is it one of the flat faced Marsh badges.

I do not regard the WCY as genuine.

Whilst it’s not the Marsh fake as Alan notes it nonetheless has very poor coarse seeding, rounded letter ends.

Your example is a more convincing strike (save behind the crown) but it is from the same die as the one below which is very flat, poor reverse detail, iffy metal, modern slider…

Isn't the script a bit rounded on the WCY

Perhaps someone has been creative with a fret saw. The originals are domed rather than flat so in the hand is better than a photo.

Always difficult to add an opinion of authenticity without actually holding the item concerned.

There are tell-tale signs such as a non hanging "v" on GvR Household Cavalry badges, as well as others which are easy to spot, but otherwise it can be difficult, the TF Suffolk is a badge which I would rather see blowholes if it was mine, but I would not dismiss it without having it in my hand.

An opinion

Rob

Thanks everyone. Yes, the W&C is very flat, one for the bin.
I am fairly sure the Suffolks without blowholes has been discussed on here in the past, which is why I took a chance on this one. My feeling is that it is ok, though may be wrong.
Cheers,
Alex
