Royal Warwickshire Regiment (6 regiment of Foot)
Hi all
I have 3 buttons from the 6th regiment of foot, with serious anomalies in the designs. All have been dated around ±1840-1870. The maker for all 3 buttons is the same - P & S Firmin. Button 1 has the deer with both forelegs on the ground and the tail up, button 2 has one foreleg lifted and the tail down. The chain is also clearly visible on the second button and not the first. Button 3 has the deer facing in the opposite direction to the first two. The deer on button 3 also looks more like a goat. Does anyone know why there would be such vast differences between the 3 buttons? Last edited by Angazi; 16-08-23 at 06:51 AM. |

Partially solved
I have come across a partial explanation for the differences. The right facing deer is dated 1840-1855 and the left facing deer is dated post 1855 and pre 1881.
