The AOC badge has ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS on the scroll,
while the Army Ordnance Department badge just has the one word ORDNANCE

Cap Badges 1896 - 1918

Top Centre - (KK 1023) Army Ordnance Corps (Large) 1896 - 1907

Bottom Left - ( KK 1024) Army Ordnance Corps (Small) 1907 - 1918

Bottom Right - ( KK 1024A) Army Ordnance Department 1896 - 1918

Mike I’ve never seen the Army Ordnance Department badge before, I take it they are quite rare. Thanks for sharing.

The AOD was the Officer branch of the Ordnance till Department & Corps merged into the RAOC in 1918

You do see them at fairs etc, but you have to check that the cap badge is bladed and that the matching collar badges are lugged [pair, cannons facing inwards, The AOC being shield only]
