ID of Royal Canadian Navy button with QVC
This naval button has Queen Victoria's crown and is very similar to the Royal Navy's 1891-1901 officer's design. It is also very similar to the Royal Canadian Navy design of 1910-1953.
I think this topic has been discussed earlier, but I cannot find it. Does anyone know who used this design? This button is 16 mm and is backmarked "Army & Navy Co". |

Hello Btns;
A Google search revealed that this button was used by a Ship's Officer of the Canadian Dep't of Fisheries & Marine, circa 1893 - 1901. The following link elaborates: http://www.thecsmmi.com/buttons-arti...0button-01.htm Cheers, Walt Last edited by Walt P; 08-12-13 at 09:38 AM. Reason: clarification |

Thank you for the link.
I think the website owner refers to Smylie as his only source of information. A button with from top to bottom: - text "Marine & Fisheries Dept" - QVC - foul anchor - text "Canada" lined background, grommet, cable rim, was sold on e-bay in 2010. It was not a high quality button, but it was genuine and old. (Rights to this picture are with the seller "past-time-collectibles") I'd like to have better proof than Smylie's ID. regards, |
