Your P is different from the two that I've got, one is a white P on a black disc listed as port commando Royal Engineers & the other same P on a black square listed as 21st GHQ Laison unit., I have my doubts about the second one as it looks identical to the first one just not cut as a disc. I'll be interested to hear from the men of the cloth on yours. Ray (mine as well)

Interesting! The badge I have that is listed as "Port Commando RE" is a yellow P on a black disk and quite distinctive from the white P on a black square of the Phantom GHQ Liasion Regiment?

Do you have any information on the RE Port Commando? as despite more than 25 years as a commando and collecting and studying commando insignia and history for over 30 I have never come accross any reference to this unit? Yes I have heard of (and worked with) 59 Independent commando Royal Engineers and know of the various RE, RLC, RAOC Port units but never Port Commando?

Hi 54Bty,

So would this badge be 'similar' in context to the Jewish Star etc.?

[Hi 54Bty,

Thanks for that link - of course this means I have to do some more ferretting! I had no idea about the badges for the Polish workers at all.

All in all, I think they had the worst of deals.

Hi Sailor bear & all.
Looking at my pictures again, my port Commando P cold be yellow as there is quite a flash to it which makes it look sort of off white, & the GHQ P as you say has the serif's. Nice to get NCC's cleared up.
