Interesting mashup: what looks like a miniature version of one of the British GS badges, a white star - US Army tactical marking from WWII and after - and a Cross of Lorraine, usually associated with the Free French forces in that conflict.

Perhaps a patriotic fund badge/fund-raising item, though it looks very well made for that. Puzzling.

The white star was also an "Allied star", so perhaps some link to the post Normandy invasion, the Allied star. British emblem, Cross of Lorraine.

The crown looks Victorian. Perhaps it is older than the second World War.

The spelling of Honi used on the garter is incorrect! Is it not?

Hadn't spotted that "Hoani" - apparently that's "Johnny" in Maori.
