Default Gurkha Signals Badge - variant ?

I just acquired this badge as something of a curio. I'd never seen one with a white metal crown or indeed the re-enforcing wire to the rear of the crown.
Is it just an error in the manufacturing process and the gilt crown was never applied ( there's no evidence of it even under a glass ) or is it a local variant? Incidentally I actually have the sealed pattern for the badge dated 20.2.95 instructing Firmin and Sons.

Default Gurkha Signals Badge

Dear Gurkharifles.

I have a very similar badge to the one you show on this Thread.

Although my badge has the Crown in gold it also has the reinforcing between the crown and the badge.

The interesting point of the badge I attach is most of it has not been cut away to make a proper badge.

It is my honest opinion that your version has not been completed properly and like the version I attach the quality control has not been carried out very well.

Only my opinion of course.

Best wishes

I seem to recall that heraldically, in bi-metal badges, the crown always has to be gold.
