South Staffs or Queen Mary's Grammar OTC
I recently acquired a KC bronzed brass S Staffs badge on blades. It came with a few OTC badges that I was after and was listed as a Queen Mary's Grammar School OTC badge. Though I am doubtful.
Now there was a thread sometime back showing a Queen Mary's Grammar School OTC badge which was shown as a half Tudor rose on one half and a bound quiver of arrows within a half Staffs knot on the other. The same badge was/is also used as the school prefects badge which perhaps muddies the water a bit. The bronze badge is a bit smaller that the usual South Staffs strike which hopefully you can see on the attached photo. So what do I have - a bronzed brass small variant OSD, a fake, or a Queen Mary's Grammar School OTC badge? Mark Last edited by dubaiguy; 08-05-20 at 06:03 PM. |

Senior Cadets in the OTC wore SStaffs badges. I don't know what the officers (teachers) wore but presumably the bz one could be it,

Thank you Alan. Then I shall keep it in the hope that that is what it is.

The attached is from a book on Staffordshire military insignia and the co author , the late Jake Whitehouse had attended St. Mary’s , somewhere I have an article he wrote about that schools cadet units which I will post if and when I can find it, but no matter what other badges might have been worn at other times, the one illustrated , I am sure must have been worn at some time.

Thanks Peter, I will look forward to reading it if you manage to find it.
The badge illustrated for St Mary's is the one I tried to describe in post 1. Thanks Mark |
