Fleet Air Arm rank badge picture wanted
On the blue battledress - No 5A or working dress - worn by Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm pilots the normal gold rank lace was represented by what an official publication called "woven yarn in the appropriate colours".
I have recorded an example worn by a wartime RNVR Fleet Air Arm officer - picture attached - but am looking for a similar illustration of an example with straight lace as worn by RN officers for use in my forthcoming cloth badge book. Can anyone help me with a useable image please? Jon |

Hi Jon,
I have had a look, but I only have FAA RNVR sleeve lace I'm afraid. I am curious as to your latest venture, is it purely Royal Navy? ATB, Andy |

Andy,
Thanks for looking. My book covers the cloth (and some metal) badges worn on battledress between 1939 and 1967. Although obviously largely about the Army, there is quite a bit about the RN in the wartime period but less on the postwar when khaki BD was rarely worn by the RN but use of the blue version especially for aircrew was more common, hence my request. I will be publishing details of the book here when completed, publishing date provisionally set for end of February next year. Jon |
