Barnard Castle OTC
Hi All,
I've just taken a roll of the dice with this as it was cheap but a bit outside my normal collecting area. I did a very quick search in the shop and thought it's a Barnard Castle OTC badge but when I've come home and done a proper search they all seem to have lugs rather than a slider. What have I ended up with? Is it ok or a fake? Thanks a lot, Michael |

Thanks Mike,
I wonder if that's the answer, it's brass and seems quite old but never say never. Michael |

That crimped slider is normally a feature found on much older badges. While most Barnard Castle badges may have lugs as you say, that does not mean sliders were not used as well.

Thanks CB,
I'm keeping everything crossed. It does seem old but I know that can be "enhanced". Michael |

It is not one of the modern CCF badges but an earlier one. Impossible to date but stats say it is OTC.

Thanks Alan,
So it could be a real OTC badge just on a slider rather than lugs after all? Michael |

Michael
The early OTC ones were brass on a slider. Yours is a match. The CCF wears the same design but the modern ones are a yellow design on lugs. I imagine that the school wore the old OTC badges well into the 50s. Yours would command a premium price as a result. |
