Question regarding SAAF service dress uniforms
Hello everyone,
I was recently wondering if the ranks of Colonel to General (or Lieutenant-General as I've also read that the ranks went until Lt-Gen in WWII) had gorgets on their service dress uniforms, both the regular and khaki ones. Many thanks in advance. |

Yes, senior SAAF officers (colonel and higher) have worn gorget patches on service dress since the 1920s. Until 1951, they wore the SA Staff Corps patches, i.e. the same as the 'army'. Since 1951/52, they have worn sky blue or steel blue patches, which are distinctive to the SAAF.
