Default Need to identify those medals

Hi there,

I'm helping a son of a veteran, and he would like to know which medals the persons are wearing in this photo ?
He mentioned it could be in the 1930s.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
The group seem to be on a religious pilgrimage.
Do you know their nationality?
Cheers, John

Something to do with Camino de Santiago. The imagery for medalions and souvenirs is either the stylised red crucifix or a sea shell.

Could be a medal for completing that pilgrimage?

So nothing link to militaria ?

Could this be a Lebanese tree on the ribon ?

I asked some old religious person here in france, and it is not something they have ever seen.

Could the cross be that ? The Combatant's Cross in 1930 for the old soldiers of WW1 ?

Camino de Santiago cross is very different

Thanks

Default Medal ID

I'm inclined to say that the medal in the picture in the OP is religious. Attached is a medal that I have had for many years, coming from my mother's side of the family. It came with no ribbon, but was included with other family items that included a commemorative Salvation Army medal. You can see that the design and shape are very similiar.

As for the ribbon in the picture, it looks to me as though it has a plain cross.

Thank you Ian, it looks the same type of medal indeed. So it might religious.
Do you have any more info on that medal ? I did a google search on I found some Vatican, or Orthodox medal that looks similar.
Yes the second person to the right of the photo wears a plain cross ribon I agree.

EDIT:
I found the following medals that look similar:

EDIT2:
I found this one with a ribon very similar:
WW1 Charlotte Cross, 1916.
The Cross was instituted by King Wilhelm II, in 1916, in honour of Queen Charlotte. It was awarded for humanitarian services to the sick and the wounded, both at the front and at the rear.
The Cross is the equivalent of the Red Cross decoration for Wurttemberg.
