Early years of the Transvaal Volunteer system. I believe most of the Transvaal Volunteers and some of the Natal units had cloth titles that were worn on the top of the tunic/jacket sleeve arc. Off hand I remember seeing pictures of soldiers with titles ILH, CMC, NMR

Yes, now that you mentioned it I remember seeing a photo of NMR wearing similar ones on their shirts
