K.u.K. Marine displays
K.u.K Marine SM U-20 was sunk on 4 July 1918 whilst on patrol in the Gulf of Trieste. She was lost with all hands. Her wreck was located in the northern Adriatic Sea in summer of 1962 & she (or what was left of her) was successfully salvaged. U-20's Conning tower is on display in the Museum.

What a spectacular looking torpedo. And what stunning photo's, thanks for sharing. Never knew about any Austrian navy, with it currently being landlocked.
In an earlier post you complained about display glass reflection. A polarising filter might help to counter this, but judging from most of your images you seem to be doing just fine without it. Rgds, Thomas. Last edited by fougasse1940; 15-11-16 at 10:59 PM. |

While this is all very interesting (and many thanks for showing us), do not forget next time you are in Wien, that there is more then just this museum. Do not forget the Heurigen to just name one thing.

Thanks Henk, we were 4 days in Vienna & saw quite a bit actually, the tram system there is great so we got around a lot of the inner ring city centre, the churches we viewed were spectacular! We would like to return & stay longer next time, same with Amsterdam, altho we saw a lot in the 4 days we were in the city, there is much more to see. I loved the architecture in both cities!
