Rifles Regiment of some sort, black buttons, and I think black shoulder titles?

Thank you for your suggestions, rifles buttons and a shamrock would suggest Royal Irish Rifles.

It is the mixture of head gear that I find odd, that and the wearing of medal ribbons which makes it hard to date.

I would have thought that the Wolsely helmet was little used after about 1942 but the medal ribbons would suggest post 1945.

I would suggest a mixed group of colonial military or police officers and government officials (district Officers etc).

Possibly West Africa - Sierra Leone - Gold Coast region?

Whilst I don't know, I see nothing to suggest India at all. Perhaps Australia, Africa?
