Default Allied Command Europe Mobile Force - Land/ACE Mobile Force-Land/AMF(L) Question

When did British Infantry Battalions start wearing the AMF (L) patch? 1 PWO had them in Bulford in the late 70's but was this common practice when the AMF(L) started in the 1960s?

When I was attached to 9 Field Workshop at Borden in the mid 1980's we wore a Small Embroidered Union Jack on our Combat Jacket and a Metal AMF(L) Badge on a Leather Fob but as far as I remember not a cloth badge that I ever saw at that time.

Edited to add: I do remember a Coloured AMF(F) Patch worn by the American & Canadian Army but not the British! Who did wear a Subdued example later in the 80's

The British badge was sealed on the 19th December 1995.

I remember them being worn as early as 1985. I was at Okehampton camp and there were AMF(L) soldiers on the camp. I don't remember the regiment though.

i think the earlier 1985ish examples were American examples purchased from PX's

These are American made patches as Canada like the UK did not produce them at the time

The fob badge was approved for wear but not UK made = American I believe

Was being worn by a 1 PWO officer on my PCBC course in 1979-80. Don't remember the badge having a yellow edge though.

Many thanks all. Can’t find any references to the badge in Jon’s brilliant book. Perhaps 1 PWO were the first to wear it. Had a good Skype with a 1PWO mate who now lives in NZ who isn’t sure if their predecessors wore them.
