Royal Artillery Cap Badge
What one of the cap badges would my father have worn out of these two badges , he served with the 67th searchlight Regiment , I have a photo of him with one of these cap badges but it's not clear enough to make out what one it is , I gathered the 67th searchlight regiment was territorial but I'm not 100% sure ,
Thanks in advance |

Not the latter one (Territorial Force) as that was only worn up until 1921.
I think the first one should be right but the Artillery experts will be able to confirm that. |

Whilst not in great numbers, the TF RA badge continued to be worn by Bangor OTC into the late 1930s.
The searchlight regiment would have worn either the full sized gun cap badge in the peaked cap up to circa 1939, then on the side cap from circa 1940 until the adoption of the General Service cap circa 1942-3 when the RA collar badge was usually worn. This may help you date the photo. |

That's great information ,I appreciate it ,so I gather now that one of the photos I have , the one with the gun on his cap must have been when he was called up in April 1940 ,so a early photo ,I also have a group photo of the 67th searchlight regiment what looks like he's wearing just the ubique badge , hard to make out on a smaller photo but I think I'm right
Many thanks again |

There are at least 3 different badges being worn in the picture.
Marc 67th (Welch Regiment) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) formed in 1940 from 6th Bn The Welch Regiment. in 1944 became the 67th Garrison Regt RA., 1945 608th Regiment RA (Welch) TA., disbanded in 1946. So the 3 badges are RA Gun badge, RA Collar badge and possibly The Welch Regt Badge. Marc

The unit had an owl on lozenge arm badge?

The Owl badge was 76 SL Regt RA (TA) and 67 wore a piece of Welch Ribbon post war.
