Default Canadian Badge - identification help

Hi all,

I am looking into an ancestor of mine who looks to have served in the Canadian forces. I have attached a couple of photos of him, admittedly they are photos of photocopies as I no longer have the originals, so not the greatest quality.

I can see the cap badge has a little point at the top left and some space in the middle but having looked at hundreds of Canadian badges I cannot find one that seems to match.

He arrived in Canada in 1928, and was born in 1882 in England so my guess is a reservist unit? He died in Indian Head, SK but I do remember it being mentioned that he served in British Columbia - though how true this is I do not know.

Any pointers as to uniform/badge/time frame would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lewis
