Small Silver ATS Pin/Badge
I have learned something very interesting about the initial ATS service pin that I was not aware of regarding the number on the back. That is, it's the service number of the lady who wore it. If that's the case, is it possible to find out who the pin was issued to? If so, how do I do that. The number on the pin I have is 5469
Thanks, Terry |

They 6 digit service numbers starting with 500000, so I dont believe the information you were given is correct.

The number on the back of the ATS badges is not the recipient's Army number but simply the number of the badge which depended on the order in which it was issued - ie the higher the number the later the badge was issued.
I do not know if there was one series for all the ATS badges or whether they were numbered locally. The attached form for the similar TA lapel badge shows both the recipient's badge number and his different Army number. Jon |
