Royal Army Educational Corps
Members
Royal Educational Corp badges I'm sure do not have the cachet of more glamorous and collectible units, thus they appear not in demand and carry a relatively low price. However, has any member seen or has in their possession and can share a photograph, the RAEC badge similar to the top badge in the attached scan. The one that is long and thin with the RAEC scroll. Kipling and King have this as KK2144. It seems to be incredibly scarce!!! Thanks Mark |

Hi Mark,
Here are my two. My example of the book version has lugs as you can see. I'm not 100 percent sure of its authenticity. Regards Phil

There is also a trial pattern RAEC badge. Have seen one on a dealers site in the past, but can't remember the dealer
Cheers Tony.

Hi All,
Here are mine for comparison. Note size difference. One on left is 40mm wide, one on left is 45mm wide approx. Cheers, Tinto |

Thanks Gents for all the replies and images.
Very interesting to hear about the trial badge (I wonder if it is the one I'm looking for). The badge I was hoping someone might have is KK 2144. I'm at work now, but from memory it is similar to the badge with the open book and crossed rifles that several of you have shown. However it is thinner and surmounted by a King's Crown. It also has an RAEC scroll across the rifle butts. I have been searching for this badge for some time and all the dealers I've contacted say it is very scarce. Cedric Heys went as far as to say he's never seen one in 30 odd years as a dealer............! Therefore does it exist? Could it be the trial pattern that Tony mentions? Having said all this, by sods law one is sure to appear in the next Bosley's postal auction with a hefty price tag! Mark |
