Default HAC beret with badge, advice please?

Hi guys,

Any thoughts on this beret and badge, with the associated history, that i just bought would be most welcome please.

Only cost 7 quid including p&p so no big disaster.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

Hi Phil,

The height of the badge would suggest to me that the beret was worn Para style like a flat cap, with the badge well round to the left.

Regards

Ry

Phil, I am sending you a PM about the chap whose beret you have there - date of joining the HAC, etc, but for general consumption I quote below an extract from an email I have received from one who knows:

"...........The problem with the beret is not its colour, but its shape in the photograph. It is not well presented shapewise. The badge is certainly that of an H.A.C. Artillery officer"

From the information I am sending you by PM you will see he joined the HAC as a Veteran Member and as such may have been kitted out with this beret but never actually wore it, hence never got round to adjusting position of badge. To confirm this theory will you please comment on condition of the beret.

Regards,

John

Morning John,

thanks for looking into this for me, really appreciated as i know how busy you are etcetera.

condition, i cant get the beret in hand until around 11. i will refresh my memory then. but i will be posting a couple of clearer photos. from memory, stinks of cigarettes, badge backing was coated in brasso, bit sweaty on the inside. badge is in very good nick.

i look forward to your pm and will update later.

thanks

phil

The only thing I was not happy about was the seemingly too high position of the badge, but your new photo's clear that one up. You have the genuine article there Phil.
