The same (or similar) scene, but in colour and with more detail.

And the artist in "less formal" uniform, but as a major.

Hi

I see he has Red-backed pips and crowns. Or are they Scarlet for COTC Officers?

Did this signify "Infantry" or "Staff/General List"?

Just wondering.

regards
Darrell

For Colville being an "Artist" that distinction probably was not very important to him......

My mistake here...I was talking about Charles Comfort....

Infantry (not rifles), COTC and general list were all scarlet. ( War Dress Regulations 1943).
The COTC cap badge is a bit of an officer's perogative on Comfort's part. Administratively, war artists continued to wear the badges of thier original unit or the general list badges.

One thing I don't understand...Colville was associated with Mount Allison University first as as student (1938-1942) then, after the war as a teacher.(1946-1963)....So, should he be wearing the Mount Allison cap badge (1942-1946) instead of the U of T........Maybe I'm just nitpicking....

Colville was commissioned as an officer and taken on strength of unit. He wore that regimental insignia iirc. I don't think he had any connection with the COTC as a student.

Darrell, can you get Lt. Colville to turn a bit more to his right so we can see the badge?

Okay.

And for an image of him as a Captain with a clearer view of his collar badges.
