Na then arz tha doing Greetings from Yorkshire
Yorkshire speak roughly translated to "now then how are you doing"
Hi everyone first time on this forum , i am researching my late fathers WW2 service and would appreciate any information relating to his uniform and any badges or insignia worn on the uniform. He joined the Royal Artillery signing on in Leeds in January 1941 at the tender age of nineteen ( yes nnnnnn nineteen ) .After initial training as a AA Gunner he was posted to the to the Maritime Royal Artillery to serve throughout the war on Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships (DEMS).I am trying to obtain the badges he would have worn to put alongside his campaign medals and other memorabilia in a specially made presentation case.My research tells me there were two different badges as the regiment was renamed part way through the war, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. As you may have gathered I am a fellow Yorkshireman by birth. I won’t even attempt to translate the above for non-Yorkshire folk. So, welcome to the forum or as we would say in Yorkshire ‘get yessen in and get yerself settled‘ (Well that is what they would say in the village I come from!) Cheers James
