Default Small KC RBL Collar / Cap Badge

Hi All,

This arrived in the post today, smaller than l expected but I was wondering if anyone knew what it was.

I'm guessing it has been a British Legion collar badge of some type which has been converted to wear as a cap badge.

Has anyone come across this type of badge before and do you know what it was used for?

Thanks a lot,

Michael

Star and crown could have started as a ASC or RASC collar badge?

A pre 1953 British Legion Standard Bearers beret badge? A very similar QC badge with Royal British Legion on is worn these days.
I believe the original British Legion ones were were made using surplus QVC backings, which may have grated somewhat as it wasn't formed till post WW1.

Thanks a lot for the help, both seem like good, plausible answers

There used to be an RBL collectors website out there which may have helped but it seems to have disappeared.

Thanks a lot,

Michael

Hello Michael, I was part of the RBL web site I think you mean. Unfortunately the owner of the site seemed to stop it out of the blue.
As far as I remember this badge is a British Legion collar badge that has had the lugs taken off and a "home made" slider fitted. For what purpose I am not sure. Collar badges were worn by band members, bearers etc
Attached is a photo of 2 x KC & 2 x QC collar badges. Sorry that it is blurred, I need to retake it.
Cannot help anymore sorry.

Thanks Jerry,

It's a real shame about that site, it was a great help and I learned a lot from it.

It was called The British Legion MEMORABILIA Collectors Club. Just came back to me and the guys name is Bob Rankin who was involved with the Staffordshire branch.
Quite a few of the badges etc shown were from my BL/RBL collection.

It is a modified RBL collar. My guess would be that a member decided that it fitted his beret better that way.

That's the one Jerry, lovely collection and the site was full of really useful information, have you got your badges in an album?

Thanks Phil, I think that ties with the earlier comments and makes perfect sense.
