Interesting WAAC badge
Hi All
I just received this badge today. It may be an officer's badge as it looks like it may have been gilded, though if so, it has faded. It is marked Gaunt London on the back and lugged, where I would assume an O/Rs badge to be slidered. The interesting (or odd) thing is the numbered plate at the back, can anybody shed some light on the reason for this? Could it be a service number which has been privately applied to id the the badge, I know nothing about WAAC service numbers. Thanks in advance, cheers, Alex |

I have 4 WAAC badges;- 1 GILT with Blades, I BRONZE with blades, 1 GILDING METAL with lugs and 1 similar to yours with maker name GAUNT LONDON and a number plate G7090 lugged which may or may not have been bronzed probably a officer badge due to quality . I have as yet never come across a slide version

Hi Jerry
Yes, after I posted I thought they probably never had a slidered badge due to the design but I wasn't near my PC to make a correction... Cheers, Alex |
