Cambridgshire Regt - no e
To braze or not to braze? I have a genuine cap badge to this regiment BUT with the e spelling. However, all the no e badges I have seen do not have brazing holes. Are these badges simply repros or is the no e/unbrazed a typical issue of a different period?

They were WW2 era so some makers had stopped using the holes by then,

Cambridgshire Regt - no e
I have never seen one with brazing holes, as Alan says, WWII era.
They were first sent out in 1940 when the Regiment was stationed at Weeting Hall, Norfolk and after a short time someone complained about the missing "e" and they were supposed to be handed back and issued to the Home Guard and cadet force. I have just checked on my late Father-in-laws and there are no brazing holes, he kept his badge. Rob |

I have two without the "e", neither with brazing holes.
I have three with the correct spelling, one has brazing holes, these two don't. The brooched badge is a nice little one, sharply struck in thin metal it has good detail and although it's been brooched it's been curved to shape as per for wear on the cap. |
