Must be rare, usual conditions apply, looking for reasonable offers.
Thanks. P.B.

Steve,
There appears to be some fairly modern looking gilt examples has the badge been taken back into use at a later date ? P.

I lived in Jordan in the late 70s - mid 80s, I can nearly remember the speech but not the script.
However, the badge was worn by but the inscriptions; "shurta" is police and "Jaesh" is army - I'll try to work it out. Yes, I think you are right Jerry - the first letter is a 'sh' |

Nice clear explanation by Eddie Parks at post #4 here. With this script and in white metal or silver is the pre 1956 ish Arab Legion. In gilding metal is the post 1956 Jordanian Army. But also found with different scripts post 1956 for police (also wm) and general security. My impression is that genuine pre 1956 AL are quite scarce but the confusion of metals and scripts makes it possible to pick them up relatively cheaply (on ebay etc). Mike

Thanks for all the helpful replies.
Holy boy, If you look back through the classified ads you will see that I have sold many items here and usually give what I hope are very reasonable asking prices but in the case of this badge I was unsure of what represented a “reasonable “ price ,hence my not quoting a price. P.

There are seven? variations on this badge. If members send me their email addresses I have a word document describing them.
