36 Canadian Reconnaissance Squadron Flash
Attached is what I consider to be quite a rare Canadian WWII shoulder flash - 36 Canadian Reconnaissance Squadron. 36 Brigade was part of the reserve army in Canada and was based in Camp Aldershot in Nova Scotia. I've included the work ticket from 1944 for a motorcycle that came with the flash and shows the unit name. What I find unusual is that this is the only flash that I have ever seen to this unit and would have thought that a few more should have surfaced over the 20 odd years that I have lived down here.
Does anyone know of any other Reconnaissance Squadron flashes used in the reserve army in Canada? |

Hi Gary, I have had a pair, (only one left now), and I know of at least two more.
It is odd that they have a coloured embroidered title, as reserve army units were not granted permission to wear coloured titles until after the end of the war. A squadron sized unit would not have a large establishment, which likely explains the scarcity of the titles.
