Default Silver plated VIII Recce badge

Bought this one today and must confess I know little of this badge , I suspect heavily copied, this one looks silver plated, I have had a quick look at old threads but opinions please, Kev

Apparently the first issue was in one piece with no overlay. The overlays of the subsequent badges were fastened with rivets or folded over wire.
I think that this is a good one of the first issue.

Try pm-ing barriefield-brian. He has a particular interest in the VIII Recce and he will know better than me.

Bill Miller may also be able to shed some light on these badges.

Dang, where are you located? I want to shop there too!!!! It looks good from the pics though I haven't seen one silver plated, mine is white metal. There is a lot of variations out there as they were not all made by one company. (lots of private purchase) I took my badges to the reunion and asked a couple of the vets what they thought about the white metal version. They replied that they were the early prototype badges. Here is a pic of a couple of mine, hope this helps. Cheers Brian
