I believe this is a modern sporran or cross belt badge, note the screw posts

Another sporran or cross belt badge with extra long screw posts. The back is crude but the front is a nice stamping.

92nd Bn Interim Cap Badge
Hello:
Thought this interim cap badge might add to this really informative thread. This is a Roden Bros 1915 brass cap with a sterling silver overlay and the interesting addition of white enamel over the Canada. I believe the "Canada" was painted into the white enamel. There are sterling marks to the rear that include a maple leaf maker's mark and the number 925. I think that is a reference to the 925/1000 silver content of the overlay. I do not know what maker used the maple leaf mark. It is a lovely badge. Don |

15th Bn Interim Cap Badge
Thought that this one might add to the thread as well. This is a Gaunt cap badge with a sterling silver overlay to the 15th Bn. I think that the number on the tang of the overlay is 925 (might be 825). It is a beautiful badge and another piece of the history of these great battalions.

Very interesting badges there CEFGUY. not seen that 92nd btn one before. Almost looks like it was almost a sweet heart badge in a way with the white filling.

48th:
The badge came with reference to an old story. The old story went that the adjutant of the 92nd wore a cap badge with the enamel on the Canada. Of course it is another story that will likely never be verified, unless of course someone comes forward with the photo or the letter home describing it. What did it for me was the lugs. If it had a pin back I would have leaned towards sweetheart as well. Either way it is an interesting treatment applied to a stock G/S cap badge. I am overdue to say that the thread you started should be published as a chapter of a book on CEF badge history. Thank you so much for sharing your collection and your knowledge. Don |

McDoughall, London
To add to this thread.
I have a heavy silver plate badge maker marked 'McDoughall London' that I believe is either an Offrs or a Pipers badge. In addition, I have a badge that has been attributed to 'Moore Taggert, Edinburgh' which unfortunately is not maker marked. I also have a cut down version of the badge with very long (3/4") lugs which is believed to be a sporran badge. Finally, I have a shoulder title (48/H of C) where the 'of' is small, unlike the usual large 'OF' shown in the titles in this thread. The lug style can be attributed to Tiptaft. I will look to post a few pictures of these badges soon. Lovat |

Thank you very much guys! I appreciate it.
I was going to add a bunch more badges, collars, information and variations but I am no longer able to edit my old posts so not much sense as it would not flow well and be out of order. |

I hope that there will be a way of adding in the information in a satisfactory manner. It is already the most comprehensive summary of the badges of this unit. Don |

Thanks Don, my collectuon has grown a lot since I originally did this thread. I now must have over 150 48th Hgrs cap badges with so many different variations and makers.
I think this thread will be a lost cause. I may start a new thread to make everything flow smoothly. |

Titles and Collars
The first image is one already shown, which I have down as 'period of use unknown'.
The second image, again previously shown, is a pair of titles, NMM, with 4 x Gaunt-pattern lugs. The third image is a single title, NMM, with 2 x Tiptaft-pattern lugs. The fourth image is another single title, NMM, with 4 x Hicks-pattern lugs. The final image shows on the left a small (20mm) unknown collar, and on the right an Offrs gilt lacquered collar (31mm), NMM, with Caron-pattern lugs. I'll pass on uploading images of the cut-down version of the badge as it appears to be the same as one already shown, and the heavy silver-plated Offrs or Pipers badge, MM 'McDoughall London'. |

Ron, A 48th album may be a better route.
