Default German Oak Wreath Badge Gold Coloured

A badge of yellow metal or with a yellow metal finish, bearing the Assman company "A" logo and measuring about 40mm X 35mm.
Presumably it's German, does anybody know from which era, for which organisation and where worn, possibly on collar patch, cap?
From the fittings I'm thinking perhaps a collar patch insignia?

Leigh,
The badge might not be military related at all. Sprays of oak leaves are commonly used as decoration on hunting apparel in both Germany & Austria.

Hi Leigh
Your badge is very similar to the oak wreath part of a WW2 period German Army General's gilt visor cap cockade and wreath. The cockade would normally be fixed in the centre of the wreath with prongs. Ranks of the Heer (Army) below that rank had silver versions of the badge.
Also it could be a version of an NSDAP political leader's visor cap cockade and wreath. This was also gilt washed and would have had an eagle above the wreath and cockade.

Assmann was a bona fide maker of Third Reich insignia for the period generally.

Regards

Bill

Found an old thread on War Relics forum that has an old "Assmann Sales Catalogue" , one point that puzzled me about the wreath was the 'open' top.

Most military wreaths are either a complete circle or have a smallish gap at the top but this one appears to be more 'U' shaped.

In the catalog there is a Bergbau (miner's) badge that has a similar shaped wreath , so perhaps the badge is not military ?

Navy didn't occur to me, do the measurements fit?
I was thinking along the lines of possibly some form of collar patch insignia, political or non- military.
