Although not of standard pattern, it looks, from its small size like a Victorian Officers forage cap badge of the Royal Artillery.

These types were an alternative pattern.

Cant tell if its a Volunteer one in silver or Regular/Militia in Gilt.

Assuming it has 2 rear loops?
