Default Hallmarked RTC Badge

A 1924 hallmarked (Z) RTC badge by Firmin. This badge looks to have started life as a 3 bladed piece by all indications on the reverse. Two lugs had been attached at some point for wear. At the base of and between the lugs there is a build up of black wool fibers and likely a bit of polishing compound. So I feel this piece has experienced some wear on the black beret.

From what I have seen, 1924 may have been early if not the first year that the new tank direction of travel made it's appearance. Thus correcting the previous RTC badge which had an undesirable direction of travel as viewed when worn.

This was one of a number of hallmarked pieces recently acquired.

thanks
Jack
