Barrow-in-Furness helemet plate
Many, many years ago I bought a couple of frames of old Police badges & helmet plates. Among them were several County Borough of Barrow-in-Furness helmet plates in brass and blackened brass, with wm numerals. 2 large loops. They were identified but I have since mislaid the details. Be glad if anyone can re-identify for me again. I seem to think they may have had something to do with Railways but Froggatt doesn't mention them.
Thanks, GTB |

As far as I recall (before selling mine a few years ago). This is for civil police not railway police, as it staes on the badge 'county borough' constabulary. It should be black painted with the WM 'collar' number of the officer. This period it is not unusual that no crown is worn. Try going onto the PICA site, they may help.

The badge is a helmet plate for the Barrow in Furness County Borough Police. Worn during the 1920's.
