Default DCLI Badges From The Same Die, Good or Bad?

Views on these two please?
One darker toned with pinched lugs (acquired a couple of years ago), one lighter toned with rounder, footed lugs (bought with a batch of anod al badges to different units back in 1984 from a recently retired senior NCO who'd picked them up as souvenirs during his service).

They're from the same die, am I right in thinking that the badge with rounder lugs is a repro, possibly both badges are?

Ta, I was happy with that one, just the newer looking one with the footed lugs was ringing alarm bells and making me ultra cautious about the same die being used (then again a repro would use an original die).

They are from the same die. The second one is showing some slight loss in sharpness of detail. Perhaps a restrike?

That's what I'm thinking, colour of metal, footed lugs too.

What I've been trying to look at different dies for those who who descry "FAKES" - and not realise that there were a large number of dies. For example 12,000 DCLI were ordered in 1916.
How many changes of dies within 12k ??

The KLR had 6k of a type (Pattern 4362A/1896) were produced but I have defined 19 different dies of this type (ie 1896 - 1926) ?

I guess that your DCLI had loads of dies (ie "variations") !

Can anyone tell me how many badges - eg BM and GM - could exhaust one die ??

J, thanks

I too would like to know how long a die was expected to last. Probably no exact figure I suppose; too many factors involved.

Sorry for late reply, I think that the second is completely spurious, given the materials used.

Ta, well, that was 35p wasted a few decades ago then. One of my cheaper mistakes.
